Prayer for Taking Communion

Taking communion regularly is truly important and an amazing thing to be a part of.  Remember that taking communion does have a level of seriousness to it as well.  When you take communion, you are partaking in the body that Jesus broke for you and the blood that Jesus shed for you.  According to the word of God, you are to take communion to remember what He did for you and to remember the new covenant that was made between God and His people.  It is because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we now have grace.

You are to examine yourself before taking communion.  Take a minute, or two or more and let the Holy Spirit speak to you about the areas in your life that does not line up with the character, attributes, thoughts, speech, action, mindsets etc. of God.  Once He reveals them to you, *repent for it, renounce it and ask God for forgiveness. (*repenting means sincere regret for one’s wrongdoing/sin.  When one repents of their sin they are turning away from it completely)

Taking communion also breaks off ungodly blood covenents, agreements, sacrifices, and oaths made against you by the powers of darkness.  The blood of Jesus will break it off.

Let’s line this up with the word of God:

1 Corinthians 11:23-32 (NLT) says,

23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you.[f] Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.

27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against[g] the body and blood of the Lord. 28 That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. 29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ,[h] you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died.

31 But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way. 32 Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.”

It is important that you grasp the understanding of taking communion.  Once you have, go ahead and take communion and say the prayer below:

Prayer for Taking Communion:

Lord Jesus, I ask you to touch and bless all components of this communion right now by your hand.  I thank you for the way your hand was upon your people back in Egypt.  I thank you for the way your hand is upon your people now.  I thank you for the way that your hand is upon myself and my family.  I thank you for everything that you have done, are doing, and will be doing in our lives.  I thank you for keeping your hand upon Israel and Jerusalem.

I repent of any thought, speech or action that my family and I may have done that you do not approve of.  I break off any known, unknown, intentional and unintentional agreements that my family and I may have made with any thought, speech, or action.  I ask for forgiveness God and I thank you for your hand of grace, mercy, and favor upon my family and I.

According to your word, I take this communion in remembrance of you.  Thank you for dying on the cross and rising back to life again.  Thank you for breaking your body (take your unleavened cracker/bread) and shedding your blood for me (take your juice from your cup).

Everything I have asked, I have asked in the name of Jesus and believe it is received, amen and amen.

Thank you for what you shared about taking communion. I´ll tell my husband and we will use it when we take communion. We feel alone here in the North of Germany, we are a Dutch couple, my husband has 71 years and I 76! But we believe tha the Lord brought us here to be a witness. Butwe ourselves are still in the process of healing. I had a small stroke in the beginning of december last year. Emotionally I am not yet aalright. My emotions were always too strong for me to handle. But it is part of the fruit from the Holy Spirit: self-controll!!
This morning I read your article about the perfect storm on Spirit Fuel. And then I went to your website.
The Lord bless you! With much love, Janneke van Eeghen

Thank you for your message and you’re welcome. “I release the grace of God and eyes to see through His lens as you walk through your process/obstacle course, in Jesus’ name NOW! I release the fire of God to consume all the dross off of you both NOW, in Jesus’ name! I release His peace and shalom, shalom, shalom over you both NOW, in Jesus’ name!!!” Receive it! You are not alone! God never leaves you or forsakes you! He walks alongside you protecting you (Psalm 121). God bless you abundantly! All the praise, honor and glory be alone unto our living God–I AM!!!
